GPS
The built in antenna of the road angel is constantly communicating with
the ring of satellites located above the Earths atmosphere. This gives
the Road Angel vital information about it's location speed and direction
on the Earths surface. This translates into the information for you
vehicle. Combined with the database the Road Angel can identify the
locality of the nearest speedtrap or accident blackspot and warn the
driver.
Warnings
When the vehicle is within the range that has been set for warnings,
the display will change from green to red and the distance meter will
show the relative range with from 1 to 5 black bars. It will display
the type of hazard that the warning relates to. The Road Angel will
also sound an audible alert. As the vehicle gets closer to the hazard
the frequency of the audible warning will increase and the display will
flash.
As the vehicle passes the hazard the display will return to it's standby
green screen and the audible alert will cease.
Updating The Database
Updating the database is easily done with the Blackspot software installed
in your PC and the serial cable that is included. With the amount of
speedtraps set to triple in the next 2 years and accident blackspot
data changing constantly, anybody doing a high mileage would need to
make regular updates to the Road Angel. The first year of unlimited
updates is included in the purchase price and a subscription to the
database is available after the first year for only £49.
If you don't have regular use of a PC a self
contained modem is an optional extra.
Personalise your Road Angel
The Road Angel comes with factory default settings, these can be changed
to make the Road Angel right for you. You can store additional locations,
delete unwanted locations, change the warning range, adjust the volume
and various other settings.
Seen
here on the dashboard with the power on and showing the GPS
speedometer, the Road Angel Classic is a streamlined device designed
to give you the accurate information you need to reduce the risk of
accidents and other driver hazards. The warning distance can be set
so that the driver has as much time as possible to avoid dangers in
accident blackspots, or speeding offences due to a simple break in concentration.
The 3 easy to use buttons provide access to the simple menu and it's
